The Electronic Whole Earth Catalog is a very early CD-ROM presentation of The Whole Earth Catalog. Utilising HyperCard, The Electronic Whole Earth Catalog consists of over 9000 cards connected to one another with hypertext; essentially the web before the web existed, but offline!
This emulated-in-browser item contains a 430MB disk image so please be patient while it downloads. Once the emulation has booted, open the Whole Earth Catalog folder and double click "Home" to launch.

Re: cannot open
A proper BIN/CUE disc image of this disc is available here, dumped with MPF/DIC:
https://archive.org/details/the_electronic_whole_earth_catalog
You can extract the bin & cue from the 7-zip archive, and then open the cuesheet in IsoBuster to view the files, or mount the cuesheet in your favorite Macintosh virtual machine (or create a CD-R copy of the disc to use on a real Macintosh, provided that its CD-ROM drive is able to read CD-R discs).

Cannot open on Windows 10 - Help!
Hi
I've downloaded both 430 MB files. When I try to mount the file in Windows 10, I get a "disk image file corrupted" message.
How can I view this? Please help.
Thanks.

Don't understand how to open on a PC
Hi
I've downloaded both 430 MB files, click on them, I just get a "disk image file corrupted" message. I suspect it is trying to tell me that I need some other software to open the .img files.
I'm using Windows 10. How do I get to view this, or is it for Macs only?
Tks

Once loaded put in full-screen for best effect.
This is a fabulous emulator and reminder of how great the WEC was. Some of the things you find you may wish were available today.
